(Derbyshire, United Kingdom) DeckBox Games has today (01/03/24) opened its doors to show what it has been fervently working on over the last 18 months.
As a tabletop game design and publishing company, DeckBox Games plans to bring a wealth of titles to both the casual and experienced gamer. Each game will fit in a standardised size polypropylene deckbox, for both portability and durability.
Neil Cotton, MD of Brand X Marketing and Sales Ltd, which owns the label ‘DeckBox Games’, said: “We’re excited to show you what we’ve been working on. Our plan from the outset was to create a catalogue of entertaining and engaging game titles that would give gamers plenty of memorable situations and stories to take away from the tabletop.
“We’re also championing the cause of gamers who like to travel with their games. From day one, we decided that we wanted a highly durable box to carry the games in. We chose a polypropylene cigarette style box, meaning that all the game components, whether they are wood cubes, dice and cards, would be protected from wear and tear and ‘mishaps’ from shipping and carrying. This single principle became the name of our brand and our USP!”
DeckBox Games has been working on its quickly growing catalogue of titles – ready for a crowdfunding launch in Q3 2025.
“Aside from the practicability of the box, we also needed to ensure our planned game titles could capture gamers attention,” said Cotton,
“Our proposal to crowdfunding is to approach with a three game bundle. The games included in that launch line-up are:
(Solo Play) S.W.A.T – First Response, a reprogrammable, hand management puzzle game, which will see players trying to move around a building, trying to avoid being shot by the three armed criminals and rescuing the two known hostages. The game is heavily thematic, throwing the players deep into the role of a lone S.W.A.T Police Officer.
(2 – 3 Players) Package Pandemonium, a priority bidding, strategic grid movement game, sees players race around a city as a postal courier, collecting packages and drawing from a unique deck of cards for priority to take the first movement. Use your deck of cards wisely though, as the winner will get the opportunity to move a Rogue courier around the map, stealing from opponents and generally taking away their potential strategies! It’s a fun, light game which will leave players laughing.
(Solo Play) Galaxy Farmer, a resource management, worker placement game where players are ‘farming the galaxy’ for resources to fulfil orders back on the home planet. Watch out for space pirates and make friends with planetary representatives who can provide the farming player with in game buffs! Early playtesters have dubbed it Stardew Valley – in Space!
“We truly believe that these games provide a huge amount of entertainment! Our philosophy for DeckBox Games is “…to provide big box entertainment in a small package.”
Deckbox Games is also working on two more of its three-game bundles, aimed to follow between 6 to 8 months after each successful crowdfunding.
DeckBox Games was formed in 2022 by Neil Cotton, who acts as MD, game designer and artwork co-ordinator.
