Ever owned a cat? Even if you’ve had one, let me tell you that you’ve NEVER OWNED a cat. They own you!
Cat Tales is a life simulator in which players have to raise their cat from a newborn kitten into blissful old age.
Along the path of life players must deal with the ever changing moods – Grumpy, Naughty, Playful, Cuddly and more. The first phase of the game, players will play as the cat, rolling dice to match a sequence on the cat’s mood card, trying to get the best (or needed) results. The randomness of the dice accurately reflects the unpredictable nature of the real life felines.
Next is the owner phase, where cards are used to match keywords set by the cat, to further gain advantages.
As neighbours, cats can interact with each other, trying to show the moggy next door who is the leader of the pack, debuffing wherever they can!
Owners plan from the early years for the prestigious cat awards ceremony (eat your heart out ‘Crufts’).
It is said that cats don’t recognise an owners features, more so they come to know the scents, sounds, manerisms and movements of their keepers. During the game, owners will be trying to associate themselves closely to their cats, hoping to generate that closer bond.
Whilst everyone is a winner – i mean, we’re talking about the loveable little fluffballs aren’t we, but the true winner is the owner that has collected the most points which shows a true deep connection with their feline buddy as it moves into its twilight years.
How well will you get to know your cat?
This edition of the game gives players a ginger tabby and a black and white tuxedo cat to play with. Further editions will see two new breeds, such as the Siamese and Persian pack or the Asian Ticked Tabby and Ragdoll pack. There’s lots of new breed packs planned, all geared towards giving players the cat they want (and possibly already have) and the opportunity to extend the player count up to a maximum of 6!
Game Mechanics

Push Your luck die rolling
Any cat owner will tell you that the feline friend will not do what you want it to do. That’s represented in the Cat Mood cards, which players try to match a sequence of die results, locking in and re-rolling (push your luck) to get the best results.

Keyword Matching
Now the cat has instructed the owner on how they feel and what they want, the owner phase requires players to match keywords on cards held in the hand.

Deck Building
Owners need to hit the market to keep their feline friend healthy, happay and entertained. Cards can be discarded to gain better cards into the players hand.

Flick the mouse
Annoy your opponents by flicking a mouse token into their die results during the push your luck phase. Any die hit by the mouse must be rerolled, regardless if a perfect roll had been made.
